Don’t Touch That Dial
What is it with dads and thermostats? I think pretty much all of us have a dad—or, in rare situations, mother, uncle, or grandfather—who is really fussy about kids touching the thermostat because he doesn’t want to pay for more heating or cooling than he has to. Related: They also don’t want you to leave the back door open because they “aren’t paying to cool the whole neighborhood.”

But what is even the point in paying for an air conditioner if you’re never going to use it? If you’ve decided to locate your family in Texas, I think you’ve got to bite the bullet and pay for air conditioning, or move everyone up to Michigan or something.
