You may have grown up hearing the refrain, “A dollar saved is a dollar earned.” Many of us probably rolled our eyes when we were younger, thinking the adults in our lives were simply being cheap or stingy. Now, as adults, we know the true value of that saying. Some of us will do whatever it takes to save a few bucks here and there. We’re all on the lookout for a sweet bargain, right? And we love to hear a story of a good bargain! So, these people took to Reddit to share the best loopholes they’ve found – and took advantage of – to save more than a few bucks.
One Man’s Trash…
They say that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. That is definitely true at recycling centers. One person shared some of the sneaky loopholes his recycling center has taken advantage of over the years to snag some sweet, sweet deals. For example, his employees all won free Xboxes during a Mountain Dew promotional because so many recycling center customers simply tossed the caps with their bottles.
Another deal they took advantage of was for a local pizza joint. The pizza shop gave free pizza to anyone who turned in ten tabs off their large pizza boxes. Recycling center customers threw out their old pizza boxes without a second thought so our storyteller could collect them for himself and his staff. It’s wild to think about how much stuff that is truly valuable gets thrown out.
