Tipping the Scales
The Whole Foods hot bar is notorious for being absolutely delicious. It’s also well-known for charging customers by weight instead of item. This person found a great loophole that scored them some delicious, high-quality bacon for an extremely low price. They were able to get a weekly bacon fix for only $8, which is pretty cheap by Whole Foods standards.

Since cooked bacon weighs next to nothing, that $8 afforded them a whole pound! They loaded up on that free-range, organic bacon like nobody’s business. They were able to use the stuff on salads, sandwiches, and anything else their bacon-loving heart desired. Alas, Whole Foods caught on and stopped putting cooked bacon out. But those bacon-filled weeks were a highlight of our storyteller’s life.
