That means “johndoe at gmail” is essentially the same as “john.doe at gmail.” That added period doesn’t mean anything to Google.

So, next time you want another free trial, simply create a new account by adding a period to your Gmail account username. The company will register the email as a new, never-before-used address and you’ll get a brand-new free trial. You may or may not want to use this trick for, say, a new six-month Amazon Prime trial.
