#22: Cook Thoroughly
Some people like their eggs a bit raw, but ensuring that eggs are cooked thoroughly is a critical practice for individuals with compromised immune systems, as well as children and the elderly. When preparing meals for these populations or if you fall into one of these categories, it’s essential to cook eggs until the yolk is completely solid.

The CDC reports that 1 in 20,000 eggs may carry Salmonella, a bacterial infection responsible for symptoms like diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, headache, vomiting, and nausea. This risk holds true even for eggs with clean, unbroken shells. To prioritize safety, always cook eggs all the way through, especially when serving them to vulnerable individuals.
