#12: It All Started With a Big Bang
No, seriously. All that horrific white noise you can get on old-school analog televisions is an actual remnant of the Big Bang. Called Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), these sound waves are a form of the massive amount of energy released during the Big Bang.

Since then, they have been bouncing around the universe, and with nowhere to go, plenty of it passes over our planet and is responsible for the majority of the static noise. So the next time you use an old-school TV and have to deal with that horrible ear grind, just think about how cool it is that you are interacting with energy that came from the Beginning of Everything.
