#36: To Infinity… And Beyond
As if we didn’t need a reminder of how massive the universe really is, here’s this little grain of truth to accompany you on your day-to-day. The universe is so big there are more stars than sand. Considering all that, it can really contribute to the feeling of being small.

Our galaxy, the Milky Way, contains between 100 and 400 billion stars compared to the planet’s estimated 7.5 sextillion grains of sand. Obviously, the sand wins out on this one, but that is only in a single galaxy—not counting the countless others in distant galaxies. There are more galaxies in the universe than stars in the Milky Way.
