People think you don’t make a lot of money with English degrees, because most people who study English want to write novels or analyze other people’s novels, and most people never become very successful doing that.

However, technical writing is another possible application of that English degree, and it makes much better money and there’s not nearly as much competition, for one very good reason: it’s extremely boring. But it’s worth it when you see that big paycheck.
