From a Diamond-Plated Barbie to Chanel Bicycle: Ludicrous Celebrity Purchases We Can’t Wrap Our Heads Around

Rappers and racehorses don’t often go together, but they do if you’re Jay-Z. The superstar reportedly purchased a racehorse for a cool $55 million back in 2014. However, this wasn’t just any old racehorse. Jay-Z purchased none other than California Chrome. California Chrome is a champion Thoroughbred horse who shot to fame after winning the 2014 Kentucky Derby. 

Seeing a good investment, Jay-Z jumped on the chance to own the chestnut-colored horse. California Chrome went on to win the 2016 Dubai World Cup race and was named “Horse of the Year” the same year. California Chrome has since retired from racing, and there have been no reports as to whether Jay-Z’s investment paid off.
