From a Diamond-Plated Barbie to Chanel Bicycle: Ludicrous Celebrity Purchases We Can’t Wrap Our Heads Around

To prep for a newborn baby, many couples stock up on diapers, clothing, and other necessities for when their bundle of joy comes home. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, on the other hand, made a much more intense purchase when they found out Katie was pregnant with their daughter, Suri. 

Tom bought a personal sonogram machine so that they could do their own sonograms in the comfort of their own home. The actor spent about $200,000 on the machine, which was later donated to a hospital. We’re not sure if Tom learned how to operate the machine himself or if they hired a qualified ultrasound technician to help with their on-demand check-ins. We hope it was the latter!
