Greedy Gluten
According to data from the National Institutes of Health, about 1% of the US population has celiac disease, which is a disease that can be triggered when people consume gluten. However, there’s likely a much higher percentage of non-celiacs who can’t consume gluten either, estimated to be around 6-7% of the US population.

That’s almost 2 million people who can’t consume gluten – I hope that not all of them are as cheap as this person was! According to some estimates, the cost of a gluten-free diet may be as much as twice as expensive as a diet that includes gluten. No wonder this friend wants to cut back.
