Stealing Our Jobs?
Here’s a conversation that I bet a lot of people have wished they could have with an employer before. Maybe some of you were actually gutsy enough to have this kind of conversation with an employer before, and if so, good for you.
The following tweet makes a really interesting point. I think many of us have heard, at one point or another, people talking about how China has stolen manufacturing jobs, as though the Chinese snuck into America during the night and made off with all of our factories. I have known people who resented China because of it.
But as this guy points out, the Chinese didn’t take those jobs; They were given those jobs by American businessmen who did the math and realized they could make a lot more profits if they outsourced their manufacturing jobs to a place where wages were lower. So if you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at them, not the Chinese.
