Ah, the awkward moment when someone gives you an expensive gift, and you’re unsure how to react. Do you say thank you and accept it graciously, even though you know you can’t reciprocate similarly? Or do you refuse the gift and risk offending the person? It’s a tricky situation to be in.
First and foremost, it’s important, to be honest, and upfront about your financial situation. Explain that you appreciate the gesture but can’t accept such an expensive gift now.
