Huh, just like that. At a restaurant, you just straight up ask other people you’re eating with if they want some of your food. The OP actually went on to elaborate that most people usually will turn down such offers, mostly because it’s widely known just to be a formality.

This leads to the question, why have it in the first place? It probably has a practical and pragmatic origin, but like so many such things that have become a formality, maybe it’s time to consider doing it less. On second thought, keeping traditions alive isn’t the worst thing you can do. It keeps a culture.
