This Is Not How Thrift Stores Work
I have occasionally been invited to clothing swaps. This is an event where people bring clothes that they no longer want to keep around, and everyone is allowed to take anything there that they need, while those who brought stuff are happy because their old clothes are now being used by someone who needs them.

They’re a great idea, but it’s very important to understand that thrift stores are not clothing swaps. Despite what this person’s babysitter thought, you can’t just walk in there, leave the clothes that you’re wearing, and leave with something else. The money that you pay for the clothes goes towards keeping the shop open, so it’s kind of important.
