#32: Don’t Make Assumptions
Oh boy, where do I start with this one? I’m all for hard work and determination, but let’s not pretend that everyone has an equal shot at success. It’s great that this person’s dad worked hard to provide for their family, but let’s not forget the role that privilege and access to resources played in his success.

Not everyone has the same opportunities, and it’s important to acknowledge that. Plus, the whole “don’t assume they didn’t work hard” argument is just a straw man. No one’s saying wealthy people don’t work hard, but it’s also not fair to suggest that those who are struggling just aren’t working hard enough.
