Someone came across this immaculate ‘50s-era refrigerator at an estate sale. It’s definitely a blast from the past because it still had the original price it sold for in 1953. This thing is in mint condition. It doesn’t even look like it was ever used. The main thing many people notice about ‘50s appliances is the prevalent pastel hues. Why were pastel turquoise and pink so popular?
Most of our modern-day appliances don’t come in these pastel colors unless shoppers intentionally seek them out. So what’s the deal? Some historians theorize that bright pastels were popular in the 1950s because they signified the futuristic “Atomic Age” vibe that people were excited about. Plus, consumers were open to more cheery, bright colors after WWII ended and an era of relative economic prosperity emerged for more people in the United States.
